um

I hate giving titles to my posts. I feel so much pressure to try and summarize what I'm going to say, and half the time I don't even know what I'm talking about! Ever see "The Incredibles?" I feel like Kari sometimes. Probably looked like her when I was 13, too.

Anyodd, I haven't posted in a long time, the reason being that I was going to take pictures of my daughter's new crib and star nightlight, but our camera batteries are dead. Jonas went and got some for me tonight, so I'll probably post again tomorrow.

Hmm. Got any good stories? Let me tell you about the time that I almost died by lightning striking. Hem hem. Once upon a time I lived in Boston and worked at an Italian pastry shop where I gained the most delicious ten pounds of my life. I became very good friends with my boss, Sara, and she and her family went on a vacation to Lake Winnepesakie. Okay, I have no idea how to spell that, but it's the lake in "What About Bob." Yeah, I went there. So one night, after the two boys had gone to bed, I was feeling bored and decided to walk down to the lake front. I have no idea what time it was; past 8 pm though. It was a Sunday evening, very overcast, and no one was out. I looked at the lake and saw a rock probably 300 yards out. I thought to myself, "Self, it would be kind of fun to swim out to that rock." So I proceeded to take off my shoes, socks, pants, and shirt, but left my underware and bra on, being the modest girl that I am. I walked to the end of the dock and dove in. The lake felt wonderful! I made my way out to the rock, climbed up, and enjoyed the solitude. Suddenly it started to lightning, and I was surrounded by water. To me, this means danger, but I may be completely mistaken in that assumption. So I climbed back into the water and made my way to the closest dock, which happened to be privately owned. The lightning was flashing around me and I thought to myself, "I'm too cute to die, I'm too cute to die." I was very humble at age 20. I reached the dock and climbed up out of the lake, thankful to have not been fried. I worried that the owners of the said dock would see me, but luck was with me that night: not a face to be seen in the window! I ran down their driveway and onto the road, praying all the while that no cars drove by, as I was in my soaking skivvies. What a cool word that is, "skivvies." I passed some homes where the lights were on inside, and I may have been noticed by a pair of eyes or two. I ran to my rock under the tree where my clothes were, put them on hurriedly, and returned home. Ahh, the adventures.

Is that a true story? You are crazier than I thought, Shauna! But "skivvies" is a good word. I'll have to think of how I can use that in a blog post.

Ahh, I remember that very day, that very lake. You are a weirdo, Shauna. And remember you met some boy there and kissed him too! Good thing you've settled down now. Maybe the crazy times are over.

It's interesting the different types of adventures being around a lake leads to. Nothing is better than being on a lake... Especially during a lightning storm. Congrats on surviving the storm and finding that happy life.
