My little whale

Our little Malia Lou is two months old now, and not so little. Her doctors appointment was today and she weighs in at 12 lbs 3 oz, and is 23 and some inches long. That's 90th and 80the percentiles respectively. I'm so proud! Apparently her head hasn't grown much, though, so she doesn't look that big. Hopefully she won't be ill proportioned, i.e. fat body with little head. I'm excited to pull out her 3-6 month clothes. New outfits are so fun! I wish I could wear new clothes every three months. :)

Can I tell you the best reason for living where we do? My sister and her family live only two blocks away, and we play with them all the time This past Friday, we went whale watching with them on the coast. It was so fun! Jonas has to study and work that day, so the Veggie Bunch kindly took us in their van for the day-long excursion. I saw three spouts of water and a whale just 50 feet from the shore! I didn't see a head or tail, but I saw the back multiple times. It was so cool! Kjersten was great and really liked seeing the ocean. There were also lots of sea lions swimming around, but I'm not sure if she saw any of those. Malia was good, but was crabby at the end. We also went to Heceta Head lighthouse and Mo's for lunch. I was pooped by the end of the day, which means the trip was successful. The weather was pleasant, the sky somewhat cloudy, but I think that made it easier to watch the ocean for the whales. It was so fun to get out of town and see the beautiful ocean.

Me and the JilliBean with the lighthouse in the distance. Beautiful!
If you look closely, you can see that there are a ton of sea lions hanging out on the rock down there. A woman who was whale watching informed me that a group of sea lions swimming together in the water is called a raft. I asked if they gave rides. She said she would pass if they did because they have big, sharp teeth. Stick with dolphins, I guess.

Tall Man and the kidlets in front of the lighthouse. Lighthouses are prettier from a distance, Amy and I decided.

Oh don't worry about Malia...Chloe is in the 95th percentile for both height and weight, weighing in at almost 14 pounds!!! She has the same cheeks Eden had when she was young, you'd be proud!

That looks like so much fun. I love that Malia is getting so big. Funny thing though- He weighed 13 lbs. at his appointment and they told me he was just barely above the 50th percentile. (He's big enough that I wouldn't have been one bit surprised if he really is in the 90th.) Oh, I just realized that boys and girls have different charts. Maybe that is it. Cool that you got to see whales. You look great in your picture.
