HELP!!!

Short vs. Long

I am presently experiencing an inner turmoil. Sometimes I really, really think that I want to cut my hair short, but then sometimes I don't. My hair hasn't been this long for a long time, 7-10 years or so. Whoa. (And it's not even very long!)

Long hair cons: I eat long hair! Okay, not really chew and swallow, but it's always getting in my mouth. I also feel like I'm pulling it back half the day to clean or cook. And then there's the fact that my hair is fine, and therefore not very "bouncy." With it longer, I feel like it's stuck flat to my head. I don't excel in hair styling, nor have I ever. I ask my sister for hair advice from time to time, and try to apply it, but let's face it, I'm not one of those cute girls who always looks put together. (Please, no need for rebuttals on how cute I am, or how cute my spirit is. I yam what I yam and I've accepted it.) So I stand in my bathroom for half an hour curling my hair on Sunday mornings while thinking, "This is such a silly way to spend my time!" The other days I either let my hair do it's half wavy thing or straighten it.

Long hair pros: I think it is more flattering on my asymmetrical facial structure. What? I have a crooked face. I think long hair looks better on me. And theoretically a person can do more styling "things" with long hair, but we established in the cons list that I am not capable of doing those "things." Also, I look back at pictures of me with short hair and I think, "Eww! My hair did not look good." I don't want to walk around with bad hair all the time.

Hmm. Sigh. I think the solution is to either truly not care about my hair, or learn how to style it better. Or deterime which length is better to have hair that isn't going to be styled well: short or long?

I've posted the cutest pictures I could find of my hair short and long. Your suggestions? Help please!

I think your spirit is adorable. My vote is long (how you have it now) with the bangs like the top picture, where it was short. Sortof light, swoopy bangs over your forehead. I think that's flattering and more sophisticated. But I think you'll have to spend a little time styling it. It would be worth it to go to a salon and have someone cut it right. The correct cut makes it SOOO much easier and quicker to style.

--I think it is always best to go with what hubby likes... that not a problem then next comes comfort... I know I have never really seen you with long hair, but from pictures, I think it looks great long. (I am the worst at doing my hair--so for ME pony tail length is the key)

I am so there too, right now I am trying the 'short' thing. Personally I think your short hair is cute on you, the thing with short hair is you usually have a 'style' its pretty basic but looks good, with long hair it takes a lot more maintenance and its so easy to just pull it up. I think you should give it a little more time and grow it out just so you know exactly how it feel to have long hair and if you don't love it, go short. There are tonz of short hair cuts that might help give you some volume so let me know if you want to cut it and I can help pick out a style :)

I have never been a fan of short hair on girls personally. I think you would look good with long hair styled cool-like.

My vote is for longer. It doesn't have to be super long but some length looks good. Besides, when you are old you will have plenty of time for short hair. :) Love you!

I like it shoulder length. I have read that it is the most flattering length of hair for almost all women, and I think that is usually true. I like the more recent photo of you, but maybe it is because that is what I am used to. I also thought it was really cut on Saturday in two cute pony tails.

Ok, this is hard. I like the picture of your short hair but your hair is pretty longer too. But because your hair is fine in texture maybe something inbetween. Like a cute layered bob around chin length. Then the layers will add volume but it won't be too short and won't take forever to do :) Hope I helped a little!

I think you found your solution. You have to "do" long hair more than short. Especially your hair, which tends to be fuzzy when not done. I have similar hair, so don't take that wrong. Your hair looks very cute with natural curl, and I can help you curl it in a more modern way. But all of these things take time. I think that you spent so much time growing it out that you should keep it long for a while. You might regret chopping it off.
