Happy New Year!

J and I didn't quite make it to midnight. We turned in at 11:30. So close! But as we had returned from our trip the day before and spent all of Saturday putting away the Christmas decorations, we didn't feel like staying up late. And our children gave us a gift: they slept in until almost 7:30 New Year's Day. This is practically unheard of in our house.

Here are some pics from our adventures in Spokane. Actually, the pictures don't show any evidence of adventure. We enjoyed spending our time with family, and I enjoyed not cooking every meal or worrying about cleaning my house. (Ha! Funny story about cleaning. We were snuggling in our bed with the girls this morning and I informed M that it will be her birthday this month. She said that she was going to get me a present and Kj declared, "Probably something to do with cleaning." I laughed so hard. It was a very perceptive and appropriate comment.) J got to go shooting twice, so he had a great time. The girls LOVED playing with their grandparent's toys. Kj loves the snow, and J helped them build a snowman. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures of my sister and her family, but I am very, very glad they were able to come over for a few days. Family + holidays is a wonderful combination.

M adoring one of the cats, Cow, I think.
Kj played outside a lot, despite the chilly weather.  She loves animals.

Who doesn't love a naked baby shot?

My sis-in-law.  Her hair cut is so cute!

M snuggling a pillow that Goombaw made.  She also made the kids hooded towels.  Thank you Goombaw!

Our little twin cousins.  The girls had a lot of fun playing with them.

Visiting my Grandma Catie.  She is 89 years old.  Kj is hiding in the curtains in the background.

The girls trying on their capes I made them.

The snowman.  Sadly, he didn't last long.  The snow was already melting when they made him.

My ballet teacher (left) and her receptionist (right).  I try to see them whenever I visit Spokane.  I spent many, many hours at the ballet studio, and they were wonderful mentors in my teenage years.

You made capes?? How fun! Is that a my little pony in the pictures? My girls absolutely LOVE those things. Looks like you had a great trip, I agree family during the holiday times does make for good times. Or any time at all!

Yeah, for dance teachers. You know, my husband I didn't quite make it to midnight either. Our friends who were coming over got sick and so despite our best try I ended up falling asleep at 11:20ish.

Looks like you guys had such a good time.

Oh, and I was going to ask you if you might be willing to share your birth story (the one you shared on your other blog) for The Gift of Giving Life blog. I am in charge of the posts in a few weeks and I need to round up a birth story. Yours is so beautiful and I'd love to share it if you are interested. Let me know!

Shauna! This is Melia (Hannibal). Your husband gave my brother your blog address and I got it from him, sorry to blog stalk you! I love the picture of you with Janet and Marilyn! I owe my college career to Janet, not that I did too much ballet but the skills helped in all my other dancing. Your kids are so cute! I'm so happy for you and your sweet family!
