For all you Trekkies out there

None of my four friends that visit my blog are Star Trek fans? Well, keep reading. I don't think you'll be bored.

Malia has a red sleeper (that says, "My First Christmas." Whatever fits, right?) that she was wearing the other day. She has a very nicely shaped round head, and it struck me that she resembles Captain Jean Luc Picard. What do you think?

No? The resemblance isn't strong enough?

In other Star Trek news, I've taken up road biking. What the junk does that have to do with Star Trek? Apparently there's a boy-naming craze in southern Idaho where mothers everywhere are naming their sons Riker, after Commander Riker, the handsome (or so I used to think) Jonathan Frakes. I decided to bring the trend to Oregon and name my new road bike Riker. I'm a Riker Biker. Hee hee. (My apologies for the unflattering picture of me with my bike.)

On an unrelated topic to Star Trek, I am having binky wars with Malia. She uses it quite often, and always when she goes to sleep. The problem is that if it falls out while she sleeps, she wakes up and starts screaming. Then I go put it back in. But this gets very tedious after awhile. I feel like I should just let her cry it out, but I hate listening to her cry. Sigh. What do you suggest?

And here's one final streeeeeeeetch from Malia.

She's so cute! And, hey, Christmas is coming faster than you know. The new Star Trek movie looks pretty good. Maybe Commander Riker will show up in it. Then you could swoon.

I think Malia looks like Riker.

Just kidding.

I can totally see how those two look alike, I was going to comment on that when I was down visiting, funny how things like that slip your mind! As for the binki war, I think your best bet is to let her cry it out. As hard as it is to listen to, you just gotta do it, and I think it might help her too?? Put her in her room and turn on a fan and close her door and then go into your room, turn on a fan (or 2) and sleep! Good Luck!

I think you look stunning in your biking gear.... and Malia makes a cute captin. I like the stretching picture. When Macey wakes up and I know she's not hungry, I let her cry. I not gonna lie, it is hard to hear her but after a little while she goes back to sleep. Each night it takes less and less time. Be strong, you can do it!

I think you're a cute biker too. Oh, and Gunner and I are living the binky war problems too. not as much during naps but usually from 4-6am. let me know what you figure out.

So... only 4 friends, and I see 5 (no 6) comments! You are a lucky lady! Ryan likes Star Trek so I am slowly becoming more familiar with the vocab and story... Malia could pass as Pikard. We have the same binki problem with Jace. I think it will be time to let him cry it out soon, but I am not ready for that yet. So I work on getting him down without it sometimes and listening for less distress when he cries to give him a few minutes to try without... he is getting better. (granted, he's a month older right?)

I must say that this middle aged lady is a Trekker. I remember watching the original series when it originally aired. My internet handle for over 15 years has been "Spockette1954". I love your blog and am so glad that I have an ongoing opportunity to keep up with your family. You are, and were, loved here in Provo.
